Memories of Malta

Malta,
It seems impossible that we were there for 9 months last year. Looking back on these pictures it all feels like a bit of a dream... When we told people that we were spending that much time there
they said we would probably get bored.  Bored, on a beautiful island in the middle of the Mediterranean.... We never got bored. Especially during the long summer months we were always in the water.
The beauty of living right on the Grand Harbour was that we could just jump in almost from our front door. The last photo is of the view from our door.

Small inspirations

The top two pics were taken a year ago in Scotland, we had such a gorgeous week up there. It was sunny and spring was in full effect. The last picture was taken at Kristenbosch National Botanical Gardens in Cape Town, so worth a visit if your in the area.
I've been inspired lately by all the pretty spring blooms,  focusing on the them and incorporating some of my graphic design skills. I have so many pictures I still need to sort some from our time in Malta going back as far as November. I'm saving those for my next blog post!

Instagram spring

Been out and about in my neighborhood with my iphone lately, I am constantly amazed at how well the macro shots turn out. Spring was bursting forth last week, I just could not take enough pictures of the white trees! They are SO gorgeous. Not sure what kind of trees they are. I'm still learning the names of  plants and trees here in the UK.
Those little violets above are so tiny and growing out of the wall behind our house. It's cooled off again so winter coats are back on again. I sure hope that it doesn't stay cold, although they do seem to be worried that there is a drought in the UK. I guess a spot of rain every now and then would be okay too!

Taormina, city on a hill

This fantastic little city on a hill at the foot of Mount Etna is so picturesque it hurts!!! I couldn't walk 5 feet before needing to take another picture! It was all a bit overwhelming, we had been told we should go there by a work colleague of my husbands. I had read a little bit about it but was so unprepared for it's uniqueness. The main roads are all tiny, and it's mostly pedestrian, except of course if you have an old Fiat 500 (my absolute dream car, as you can see by the many pictures of me with it!), or a Vespa. We almost got our little renault clio stuck in a side street trying to find our hotel. We didn't realize that the big parking garage we had passed 5 minutes ago was where everyone in Taormina parked.... A call to the hotel and a 55 point turn later we were safely stowed in the parking garage and off on our one night adventure in this adorable place. I think the pictures speak for themselves, we ate Pizza and drank beautiful coffee and walked around with our mouths hanging open, taking a million pictures. Italy holds a special place in my heart, and Sicily has a little corner all to itself!
