Small inspirations

The top two pics were taken a year ago in Scotland, we had such a gorgeous week up there. It was sunny and spring was in full effect. The last picture was taken at Kristenbosch National Botanical Gardens in Cape Town, so worth a visit if your in the area.
I've been inspired lately by all the pretty spring blooms,  focusing on the them and incorporating some of my graphic design skills. I have so many pictures I still need to sort some from our time in Malta going back as far as November. I'm saving those for my next blog post!

Blossomwood Sign

The English have this lovely tradition of naming their homes. When my sister in law bought a house in Australia my husband started calling it Blossomwood. Blossom or "Blossy" is Jeni's nickname, and when we were visiting them Jon suggested I make a house sign for them.

I tried lots of combos, as you can see from the few I posted above, but we all decided on the gray sign with a yellow flower for the front of the house. As fun as the turquoise signs were I do think the gray fits in well with the surrounds and matches the house the best (the photo is a bad representation of the colors,  you will just have to use your imagination a bit, in actuality the grays are very similar, promise). I will try to post a picture of it when the actual sign is installed.

This kitchen is a JOY to work in! I made my first batch of quince paste and jelly in it!!! I will do a post on that soon.

Comfy bed I slept on it for almost a month!

These last 4 photos were not taken by me.... But as you can see the place is super modern and fun inside, I wanted to make a sign that reflected that.

Annies' birthday invitation

Even though I am so far away, the internet helps me feel connected to friends and family that are at home in Hawaii. For example a few weeks ago it was my friend Annie's 30th, I was So bummed to miss it. 3O is kind of a big deal! I wanted to be involved in some way, and since I couldn't actually be there I wanted to help with the schedule and planning of the event, I also created some invitations.
I heard it was a really fun day, I can't wait to see some pictures, ladies... hint, hint!

Logo ideas

The progression of a logo is usually in interesting one. It always takes me a few tries to get it "right" Here is a progression of a logo that I am doing for my friend Bob Brown of Eye Expression Photography he is an amazing photographer and just started up a new website and company called Hawaii Photographer. Here are a few of the ideas that I came up with for his new website....


This was one of the first ideas very simple and clean a little to stylized though
This leaf was a favorite but too busy
Then I came upon this idea of merging a few things together to "symbolize" Hawaii and photography but the leaf looked a little to much like a communist symbol so I reworked it and came up with the next logo




I think this last one is closest to the finished product... we shall see may do a little more refining!
